Mike Hoyt added another milestone Saturday evening to his outstanding season and career and rose up the Division III men's basketball record book with 57 points in Mount St. Mary's 95-77 upset of Stevens.
Hoyt surpassed the 2,500-point plateau, becoming just the third to do so in the past decade. He entered the day No. 12 in Division III history with 2,499 points and ended it with 2,556, at No. 8, passing Scott Tedder of Ohio Wesleyan (1985-88), two-time D3hoops.com All-American Andy Panko of Lebanon Valley (1996-99), Ron Stewart of Otterbein (1980-83) and Wil Peterson of St. Andrews (1980-83).
Stevens, which came into the game No. 2 in the NCAA's Atlantic Region ranking and was looking to wrap up the top seed in the Skyline Conference tournament, fell to 20-5. Mount St. Mary (9-15) is the No. 8 seed and travels to No. 1 Manhattanville on Tuesday.
