Witt wins, gets a split

No. 11 Wittenberg jumped out to a 15-5 lead and held off second-ranked Wooster down the stretch as the Tigers gained a regular-season split with their NCAC rivals, 74-71.

Wooster got 23 points from James Cooper but Gregg Hill countered with 21 for Wittenberg, which improved to 18-3. A Cooper turnover led to a Hill basket with 10 seconds left and Wooster could not catch up.

No. 6 St. Thomas blew past Bethel behind Bryan Schnettler's 7-for-9 shooting from 3-point range, ending the Royals' eight-game MIAC winning streak. St. Thomas needed two overtimes to win at the Royals' place earlier this season.

No. 22 UW-La Crosse lost a home game for the first time this season as UW-Stevens Point overcame a 26-point night by Joe Werner to win 68-65. Men's scores.

Terry Walsh and Brandon Mimes combined for 52 points as John Carroll finished its conference sweep of No. 14 Ohio Northern and improved to 10-4 in the Ohio Athletic Confernce with a 79-67 win, while Capital kept pace by defeating Muskingum. Babson got 19 points from Kyle McDonald and Brandon Eigenberg came off the bench for another 19 as the Beavers knocked off No. 15 WPI 79-69.

No. 17 Carthage went on an 18-6 run over a span of seven and a half minutes in the second half

and ended No. 10 Augustana's winning streak, 66-56.

No. 20 Johns Hopkins avenged its home loss to Haverford, but had to rally from a 13-point deficit and needed two overtimes to do it.
