Eureka hires women's coach

Eureka announces the appointment of Abby Hearn as head women's coach and physical education instructor.

Abby Hearn spent the previous two seasons as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Division II Minnesota-Crookston. In addition to the women's basketball program, Hearn also served as the head women's tennis coach for two years and head women's golf coach for one season.

An East Grand Forks, Minn. native, Hearn was an assistant coach at Moorhead State from 2002-04. She graduated from the North Dakota with a bachelor's degree in physical education and an athletic coaching minor in 2002. She earned a master's degree in physical education from North Dakota State in 2004.

Hearn becomes just the third head coach of the Red Devils program since 1982. Sandy Schuster, who won a school record 229 games in 16 seasons at Eureka, resigned as coach, but will remain athletic director. The Red Devils were 11-13 in 2006-07, 10-8 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They will open their season at Carroll's tournament Friday, Nov. 16.
