In men's action, most of the favorites advanced as well. But that doesn't mean there weren't exciting finishes or outstanding individual performances. Lamonte Thomas, who has already scored 1,000 points as a sophomore, torched Mount Ida for 43 as Johnson and Wales defeated the Mustangs 81-75 in the GNAC semifinal. Nicolas Hamilton-Lopez scored 36 points to lead York (N.Y.) past Hunter 88-84 and into Friday night's CUNYAC final. The Cardinals will meet Brooklyn who defeated Baruch 82-77 in overtime. Daniel Nisbett went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to ice the Bulldogs' victory. Marymount survived a game-tying three-point shot from Hood to advance in the CAC quarterfinal 60-57.

In the other WIAC first-round game, sixth-seeded UW-Superior won at UW-La Crosse. Jake Johnson's layup with two seconds left lifted Bridgewater (Va.) over Randolph and into the ODAC quarterfinals where top-seeded and archrival Eastern Mennonite awaits. Concordia (Wis.) was the first top seed to get knocked out of its conference tournament by Northern Athletics Conference eighth seed Dominican 88-76. Marquis Turley came off the bench for Dominican and scored 33 points, including 18-for-20 from the line. Both No. 6 seeds won in the IIAC, with the Wartburg men winning at Loras and the Loras women returning the favor with a win at Wartburg. The only games all season which count for the NEAC are taking place this week, as the 10-team conference tournament to decide the automatic bid takes place. You know, the league with SUNYIT and the University of Dallas. Penn State-Abington (ineligible for the playoffs) and Keuka won the men's play-in games.
