JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Former New Jersey City University men's basketball player Chris Gorski, who passed away suddenly in December, was honored on June 7 by the Jersey City Medical Center for providing the gift of life.
Gorski, a 6-foot-6 center who played for NJCU during the 1999-00 season, and his family were among 10 donors celebrated with inclusion in the medical center's "Wall of Heroes." The event was coordinated by the New Jersey Sharing Network. Following his death from a brain aneurysm at the age of 31, several of his organs were donated to patients awaiting transplants.
Gorski, who played at Hudson Catholic High School before attending NJCU, was a member of the 2000 Gothic Knight squad that advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Semifinals. He also was one of 10 men's players who traveled as part of the school's May, 2000 trip to France and saw action in three exhibition games as the Knights defeated club teams in Vance and Nice, and lost to a professional team in Monte Carlo.
