What others say: "Aaron is one of the best teammates and most coachable players I’ve been around. Also (not always appreciated by coaches) probably the funniest kid I’ve ever coached. ... could work on his timing sometimes, but very witty and a great sense of humor. He is a good friend to his teammates, a caring person to all those around him and when you get down to it, a very nice and respectful young man.
"It took me a little time to figure out what he was about, beyond the court, but to this day I have a very strong relationship with Aaron. I couldn’t be more proud of him and all that he has accomplished. While he carries a tough exterior, I know him to be a kind, caring and gentle young man, one that myself, my wife and my kids all consider to be a part of our family." – Marcus Kahn, former Cabrini head coach
Where are they now: Walton-Moss has played professionally in Argentina, Iceland, Romania and Albania.
Career synopsis: A chance meeting with then-Cabrini head coach Marcus Kahn brought Aaron Walton-Moss across the Delaware River from his home in Camden, New Jersey to the Philadelphia suburbs where he became one of the best point forwards in Division III basketball. After meeting Kahn through a friend at an open gym, Walton-Moss joined the Cavaliers as the X-factor in their 2012 run to the national title game. Walton-Moss rolled up double-doubles off the bench as a freshman and helped James Harden-esque senior point guard Cory Lemons and Kahn lead Cabrini to the 2012 national championship game. The Cavs came up four points short of a national title, but Walton-Moss was named national Rookie of the Year and remained a force for the next three years.
At just 6-1, Walton-Moss was not built like a forward. His strength and quickness made him one of the Cavs' top low post defenders and he often played in the post on defense, grabbed the rebound or stole the ball, and then ran the Cavs' offense as their point guard. Walton-Moss led Cabrini back to Salem as a sophomore when the Cavs reached the Elite 8 before losing to eventual national champion Amherst.
In his senior season Walton-Moss racked up an unbelievable nine triple doubles with the last one coming in his final win at Cabrini, a 109-101 victory over rival Gwynedd Mercy in the 2015 CSAC semifinals. He finished as the Cavaliers' all-time leader in points and rebounds (since passed by All-American Tyheim Monroe in the latter category). He then went on to a successful professional career, averaging a double-double in his first season in Iceland and then nearly a triple-double in his second.
