An upper-class team

Four seniors are on the first team of the D3hoops.com 2006-07 preseason All-American men's basketball team.

WPI guard Ryan Cain, Baldwin-Wallace forward Tori Davis, Virginia Wesleyan forward Brandon Adair and St. Thomas center Isaac Rosefelt join Wooster junior guard James Cooper as first-teamers.

Virginia Wesleyan junior guard TonTon Balenga, Mount St. Mary senior guard Mike Hoyt, Aurora junior forward Larry Welton, North Central senior forward Anthony Simmons and NYU senior center Jason Boone make up the second team.

Nineteen of the 25 preseason honorees are seniors. Nonetheless, it's a fair amount of new blood for the All-American team, which graduated 19 seniors off of last year's postseason team.

"There's been a fair amount of a changing of the guard in Division III men's basketball coming into this season," said D3hoops.com publisher Pat Coleman.

"Players such as Kyle Myrick, Adam Dauksas and Keelan Amelianovich will be strong candidates for the All-Decade team down the line. But there are plenty of talented players waiting to step into the spotlight and we look forward to seeing them this season."

The 2006-07 season is the 10th season for D3hoops.com under its current management.
