Lake Forest heave helps drop Wash U to 1-3 mark

Lake Forest rallied from a four-point deficit with 11 seconds left to force overtime and went on to win at Washington U. 83-81.

The Foresters (3-0) trailed by 16 points with 7:45 left before scoring 12 unanswered points to cut the lead to 71-67. It was still a four-point in the closing seconds before Bauer's three with three seconds left made it a 75-74 game. Wash U made both foul shots after the ensuing inbounds, then Lake Forest tied it on a halfcourt heave by Nicole Rivera at the buzzer.

Elsewhere on the men's side, three players scored 20 points or more as No. 14 Hope hammered No. 8 Calvin, 73-52 in the first of at least three scheduled meetings between the schools. The matchup between two of Division III's top rivals is now even at 81 wins apiece.

No. 16 Lincoln, which had a run of success against Division II foes last season, knocked off Division II Cheyney, 103-95. The performance of the night came from Mass-Boston's Tony Barros. He poured in 46 points, including the winning basket in the closing seconds in a 102-100 double-overtime triumph against Colby Sawyer. There was a buzzer-beating game-tying three-pointer on the men's side as well and it too involved a UAA team. Emory was the beneficiary in an overtime win over LaGrange.

On the women's side, Lake Forest will get a chance to knock off a ranked team on Sunday as well, as No. 17 Williams will be the opposition after routing Hanover. No. 1 Scranton and No. 2 Bowdoin each won by double figures, though the latter was challenged for much of the day by William Paterson.
