Tom Port scored 21 and James Cooper added 20, but No. 1 Wooster dropped its first game of the season, a 94-89 loss at Cal Baptist. The Crusaders are 7-4.
The Scots (9-1) shot 51.5% from the floor and 42% (14-for-33) from three-point range, but shot just 11 free throws while Cal Baptist was 24-for-38.
"We played real well defensively from start to finish," said California Baptist coach Tim Collins. "That's a good team over there that we were able to find a way to beat. This was a great game for us. It was just like a conference game. We are getting better, and I like where we're headed."
John Carroll celebrated No. 25 Christopher Newport's return to the Top 25 with a 92-71 smackdown of the Captains at Greensboro College. Brandon Mimes recorded his fifth double-double of the season in the win, which improved the Blue Streaks to 7-3. Up again-down again Lincoln rolled over No. 24 North Central 75-53, while No. 22 DePauw needed a buzzer beater to top Kenyon 53-52.
The top team in action on the women's side fared better, as Hope won its 38th consecutive game and improved to 3-0 in the MIAA with a 68-56 win against Albion. The Flying Dutch shot 14% from three-point range and under 50% from the line but scored the first seven points of the second half to help put the game away. Homestanding Wittenberg got 17 from Rachel Clark-Haggy and a career high 15 from Gina Carney to beat No. 12 Wilmington 77-68.
