Trinity sweeps Sunday

It's kind of a quiet day for Division III basketball, as the usual Sunday conferences, the UAA and SCAC, are not in full conference mode. But Trinity (Texas) played SCAC rival Millsaps and swept the doubleheader as part of the Tour de Tejas.

The men bounced back from a poor first-half performance to shoot 50% in the second half and outlast Millsaps 57-53. The Majors had a chance to come up with some more late-game heroics but turned the ball over down by two points with 29 seconds left. Trinity's women won their third in a row after getting beaten in their first two games, rolling past Millsaps 90-51.

In our daily podcasts, Pat Coleman talks with Millsaps guard Lorenzo Bailey, who hit Friday's game winner, about the ups and downs and keeping up with schoolwork on the road; and Trinity women's coach Amie Bradley about the team's rough start and life in the SCAC. Elsewhere, Mount Holyoke won the annual Seven Sisters Tournament, defeating Swarthmore 71-50 behind 20 points and eight steals from Joeanna Silvey.
