Bates has a showdown with No. 2 Amherst on Saturday night, but couldn't get there with an unblemished record as the No. 12 Bobcats fell at home to Trinity (Conn.) 68-63.
Senior guard Patrick Martin and junior center Russ Martin scored 17 points apiece for the Bantams, while junior forward Robert Taylor added 15, 11 of them in the second half. Bates was led by Rob Stockwell's 17 points and game-high 14 rebounds.
Trinity (Conn.) improved to 12-1.
Amherst did its part, rallying from a 13-point second-half deficit to force overtime, where it won at Tufts 96-92 in overtime.
No. 6 Whitworth controlled most of the game, but No. 17 Puget Sound hung around and pulled off the road upset, 77-72. Grinnell defeated Lawrence 142-30 in overtime. More men's scores.

No. 13 Chicago improved to 13-0 with a dominating win at Emory. Hendrix turned the ball over 30 times and No.9 DePauw turned that into 44 points in an 87-65 win.
