Coming home to D-III

G.P. Gromacki has had a successful first season so far as head women's coach at Hamilton and has directed the Continentals to a 7-3 record, already one less win than the school had all of 2005-06.

But it didn't come without an unusual offseason. Gromacki, who coached St. Lawrence to the national title game in 2002, left the school in the spring of 2004 to become an assistant coach at Temple, spent two years there before wanting to become a head coach again. He put in just a few months as head coach at Drew before leaving for Hamilton. He had yet to coach a game at Drew.

Gromacki spoke with D3hoops.com's Gordon Mann after a recent game. "Hamilton was always on my radar. A school like this doesn't open that often. When the opportunity comes, I went for it."

Gromacki also talks about the difference between Division I and Division III, what he learned at Temple that can be applied at Hamilton, the school's unusual recruiting profile and memories of St. Lawrence's run. Listen to the full interview.
