Amherst and Messiah took over the No. 1 positions in the D3hoops.com men's and women's Top 25 after this week's losses by the UW-Stevens Point men and Scranton women.
For the Lord Jeffs, it's the first time in the top spot since Week 8 of the 2003-04 season. It was their only No. 1 appearance. The Falcons haven't been No. 1 since the first regular-season poll in 2001-02.
Amherst received 18 first-place votes, while the others went to No. 2 Wooster (two), No. 3 UW-Stevens Point (four) and No. 7 Washington U. (one). The women's poll continues to be heavily split even after Scranton's loss and two losses for Chicago: Messiah got 10 No. 1 votes, Bowdoin nine, Calvin three, Southern Maine two and Washington U. one. The Bears leapt back into the poll at No. 11 after dropping out by starting the season 1-3.
