Rochester sweeps Brandeis

The University of Rochester and Carnegie Mellon men each pulled off Top 25 upsets on their first night of UAA play, as Rochester sprinted out to a 20-0 run in the first half to get coach Mike Neer his 500th career win, 83-65 against No. 23 Brandeis.

In the centerpiece women's game of the night, Jessica Waddell and Julie Marriott scored 12 points apiece as No. 3 Rochester beat No. 7 Brandeis 69-59.

No. 20 NYU lost for the first time after starting the season 10-0, losing at Carnegie Mellon 68-64. NYU started last season 11-0 before finishing 18-7. Richard Stockton sent No. 11 Averett to its second consecutive loss, 57-51. Brockport State improved to 7-1 after beating Hamilton 94-75. Rob Stockwell scored 19 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as No. 15 Bates remained unbeaten, topping Elms 73-56.
