No. 8 UW-Oshkosh beat No. 1 UW-Stevens Point 72-55, halting the Pointers' undefeated run through the WIAC. The Titans took a 24-23 lead on a three-point shot by D.J. Marsh with 3:26 remaining in the first half and led the rest of the way. Kerry Gibson paced Oshkosh with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.
The Pointers were bidding for a three-game lead in the WIAC and a regular season sweep of the Titans with just six regular season games left. The loss is the Pointers' first of the season to a Division III opponent.
In other men's action Pat Brusveen nailed a three-pointer with three seconds left to lift No. 12 Augustana over Illinois Wesleyan 64-62. The Vikings improved to 6-1 in the CCIW and maintained their half game lead over No. 11 Elmhurst, which took care of North Central 98-84. Augustana hosts Elmhurst on Saturday night.
Redlands raised some eyebrows by outlasting No. 15 Occidental on the road 109-106. The Bulldogs and ranked Tigers are now tied for first in the SCIAC.
Transylvania joined Mt. St. Joseph atop the HCAC standings by beating the Lions 84-69 while Messiah continued its quiet roll through the Commonwealth Conference, thumping Moravian 70-50. In a game that featured 25 lead changes, Bethany outlasted soon-to-be conference rival St. Vincent 107-105 in two overtimes. Brody Jackson logged 33 points in 49 minutes for the Bison. The women's side of Division III lost one more undefeated team as Maine-Farmington dumped No. 19 Maine Maritime 66-62 in OT. Kari Simpson's 24 points kept the Beavers perfect in North Atlantic Conference play.
No. 9 Wilmington suffered its first conference loss, falling to Capital 77-69. The Crusaders, who are now 9-2 in OAC play, have beaten nationally ranked Baldwin-Wallace and Wilmington in consecutive games.
