Brandeis strong on sluggish Sunday

The No. 23 Chicago women lost at home to Emory, the No. 6 Rochester women were swept in a weekend road trip and the No. 8 DePauw women lost on Sunday afternoon.

DePauw couldn't hold onto a second-half lead and saw its eight-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Austin College overcame 27 points by Liz Bondi. Beth Bergmann scored 25 points for Emory and Erica Kaplan added 21 as the Eagles improved to just 9-13. Chicago has lost five of six. The four ranked men's teams in action Sunday had an easier time, with only No. 24 Guilford winning by less than double digits. Ben Strong scored 29 to lead the Quakers past Eastern Mennonite 84-75. No. 23 Chicago won for the ninth time in 10 games, beating Emory 89-71, while No. 11 Washington U. rolled past Case Western Reserve 86-65.

The Brandeis men beat Rochester 73-66 in a meeting of bubble teams, shooting 11-for-16 from 3-point range. Averett, which is getting its lineup back together, has won six in a row to move to 17-6. Men's scores.
