'Someday' is now

Washington U. was picked as a Final Four contender -- for 2008. But the Bears grew up early and have reached Salem a year ahead of schedule.

Without a target on their back, the Bears, with two sophomores and a freshman in the starting lineup, have had a great deal of fun. Are they wide-eyed from the lack of experience? Not according to coach Mark Edwards.

Tom Port didn't have to come back for Wooster this season. Listed as a senior last year after he spent his freshman year of college not playing basketball at Miami (Ohio), Port was able to graduate last year and begin law school.

Port chose to return, however, and the Scots are 29-3 with a berth in the national semifinals. "It was difficult to see a couple of my best friends graduate," Port said.

"It was a tough choice, but I'm glad with the choice I've made. This has been a fun year."
