Former Ramapo basketball player Todd Lowber has signed a three-year contract with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
Lowber, who has never played organized football, was also a Division III high jumping champion in 2006. He was a two-year starter in basketball at Ramapo before graduating in 2006. Ramapo does not have football.
Lowber ran a sub-4.4-second 40-yard dash at the Vikings' practice facility on Wednesday, April 18.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune said several teams expressed interest in Lowber, including Philadelphia, St. Louis, Dallas, San Francisco and Carolina. Lowber had been scheduled to visit the Carolina Panthers today.
Lowber, now age 25, had spent some time playing basketball in Germany since graduation. He scored 12.4 points and had 5.2 rebounds per game as a senior at Ramapo.
