Hamline men's coach steps down

Wohler leaves Hamline after taking the position of head boys' basketball coach at Orono (Minn.) HS.

Wohler coached the Pipers for three seasons with a record of 30-47, 24-36 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In his second season, Wohler guided the Pipers to their first MIAC playoff appearance since 1994.

From 1999-2004, Wohler was the head boys' basketball coach at Marshall High School in southwestern Minnesota.

Wohler was a two-year letterwinner in both basketball and baseball at the University of Minnesota. He was a member of both the 1982 Big Ten championship basketball and baseball teams, but left the university to pursue a professional baseball career within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Wohler played baseball for the Dodgers from 1983-88, where he was a member of the club's AAA affiliate. He then returned to St. Cloud State to finish a degree in physical education. Wohler graduated from St. Cloud State in 1989, after leading the Huskies men's basketball team to the 1986 and 1987 NCC championship.

Hamline said a national search to find Wohler's replacement will begin immediately.
