Concordia (Wis.) men's basketball coach Wayne Rasmussen has resigned effective immediately; accepting a synod call to return as associate pastor at Hales Corners Lutheran Church. Rasmussen returned to CUW two years ago and led the Falcons through the 2005-06 and 2006-07 basketball campaigns. Earlier in his career the veteran tactician had coached the CUW men for nine seasons. He leaves with a 121-96 record.

"We wish Wayne a sincere thank you and a fond farewell as he leaves to continue his

great work in the ministry," offered Concordia athletic director Rob Barnhill. Discussions to address the future of the basketball team are set for early next week, according to Barnhill.
