Washington U. held off Kenyon 78-75 in double overtime on Saturday, giving Nancy Fahey her 500th career win. The ninth women's coach to reach the milestone in Division III, Fahey is 500-86, for a winning percentage of .853, the fourth-highest success rate in the history of NCAA women's basketball in all three divisions.
Fahey has guided to the Bears to four national championships, undefeated seasons in 1998-99, and 1999-00, and she has won 17 University Athletic Association championships.
Junior forward Jaimie McFarlin powered the Bears (3-1), setting a career-best with 28 points and recording her second double-double of the season with 18 rebounds. She also tallied four blocks, five assists and the first made three-point basket of her college career.
