Winners of 12 in a row, including a thrilling come-from-behind victory at Brandeis on Sunday afternoon, Washington University returns to the No. 1 spot this week in the D3hoops.com Top 25.
It's the 14th time the Bears have been in the top spot in our men's poll, which is in the middle of its ninth season. Wash U. reached the 2007 Final Four but lost point guard Sean Wallis to a season-ending injury in the third game of the season. The Bears lost the season's fourth game, to current No. 10 Augustana, but have not lost since, including Sunday's game at current No. 9 Brandeis.
Washington U. will get tested on its first game wearing the bull's-eye, traveling to No. 3 Rochester. Rochester gave up the top spot with an overtime loss Friday night at Emory, the Yellowjackets' first loss of the season.
The Bears received 11 of the 25 first-place votes, while No. 2 Amherst got eight, No. 3 Rochester three and No. 5 Mass-Dartmouth three. Hope is in the No. 4 slot. The full D3hoops.com Top 25.
