Baldwin reaches 2,000

Piedmont's Jake Baldwin netted his 2,000th career point on Wednesday night, Feb. 6, in the Lions' 77-60 road loss at Oglethorpe. He is the second D-III player to reach the milestone.

Baldwin's historic basket came on a three-point basket from an assist by Daniel Lampl with 14:14 remaining in the game.

The preseason All-American selection needed 59 career games to reach 1,000 points, which he did last season against Averett, on Dec. 8, 2006. It only took 38 games to double that total.

He holds the single-game record of 42 points which he has totaled on three occasions including twice this season.

Baldwin leads Division III in scoring at 29.0 points per game. Guilford's Ben Strong is less than 30 points away from 2,000, while Wooster's James Cooper is about 100 points further.
