It didn't take long for Jessica Stanek to move from college graduate to head coach. Just fourteen months after finishing her bachelor's degree, she has been named the new head women's basketball coach at Rockford College.
“Though she may be young in years, we have the utmost confidence that Coach Stanek will continue to grow the women's basketball program,” said Athletic Director Randy Schrader. “She brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach that is beyond her age.”
Stanek joined the Regents coaching staff as an assistant in July 2007. She played four years at Division II Minnesota-Mankato, made the North Central Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll her final three years and served as the Mavericks' captain her senior season. She completed her bachelor's degree at Minnesota-Mankato in May 2007 and is currently working on her master's degree in teaching.
Stanek replaces Steve Cochran who resigned after going 15-10 in his only season at Rockford.
