Bruins remain unbeaten

In a coast-to-coast battle of unbeatens, No. 23 George Fox kept its spotless record intact against Virginia Wesleyan. The Bruins (7-0) held off the Marlins (6-1), thanks to late free throws by Keisha Gordon to ice the game, 56-53. Kristen Shielee notched her first career double-double (11 points, 15 rebounds) for George Fox.

No. 2 Illinois Wesleyan stayed unbeaten by dominating Fontbonne, 101-53. La Verne improved to 6-0 with a 65-57 win against Loras. Capital�s climb toward the Top 25 hit a bump as Washington U. defeated the Crusaders 60-56. The Bears held Capital to 29 percent shooting and improved to 6-3. More women�s scores.

&&g-boxr&&In men�s action, No. 10 Elmhurst's offense was running on all cylinders as it took care of Benedictine, 89-83. The Blue Jays shot 59 percent from the field, including 64 percent from behind the arc, and dished out 26 assists. Brent Ruch led the attack with 27 points. Elmhurst will need similar output on Saturday when it faces No. 1 Washington U. Four of the Bears� five starters scored double figures in their 95-72 win over Eureka. More men�s scores.

Elsewhere Cal Lutheran used a 24-2 run to pull away from Lawrence, 85-65. Andy Meier scored 28 points for the Kingsmen who improved to 5-1.
