Kean able to edge Leb Val

The Kean women's basketball team has had a rough stretch lately. First, the Cougars lost at Mary Washington. In the closing minute of that game, they lost All-American guard Melissa Beyruti to injury. After more than a two-week break (with a game postponed by weather), they lost to Maryville (Mo.). But Friday night, Ebony Jackson scored 12 points, all of them in the final 10 minutes of the game, while Cardiss Jackman led all scorers with 18 as No. 9 Kean beat Lebanon Valley 55-52.

Kean is at Gettysburg's tournament, where it will face Scranton. The Lady Royals advanced after Kelly Tratthen sent its game against the host Bullets into overtime with a layup with one second left, then scored four of the team's six points in overtime.
