On a Maroon streak

The University of Chicago's 12-game losing streak to open the season has been well-chronicled. But there's another set of Maroons on a more than equal and opposite streak in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. That's No. 18 Roanoke, which won its 13th consecutive game Wednesday night as Parrish Walker scored 19 points in a 79-66 home victory against Bridgewater (Va.).

Top-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) survived a visit from No. 11 Augustana, though All-American guard Kent Raymond went down with an injury late in the second half and did not return as the Thunder won 79-71. He scored 26 points before his departure. Wednesday night's men's scores.

Randolph-Macon has just the second-longest winning streak in the ODAC, but it's a good one as the Yellow Jackets won their 10th in a row by defeating Eastern Mennonite 82-73. Mike Russell scored 32 points to help No. 23 Anderson fend off Bluffton 81-73 in overtime. Colt Cunningham kept the Beavers close throughout the game with 23 points. No. 5 Buena Vista survived its fifth consecutive nail-biter, needing a steal with .5 seconds left to secure a 66-62 win at Buena Vista.

&&f-boxl&&Hope and Calvin will go into the weekend tied atop the MIAA standings, setting up another exciting chapter in their storied rivalry. Jesse Reimink tallied 27 points and eight rebounds in the Flying Dutchmens 81-70 win at Kalamazoo. The Knights shot 62 percent from the field in rolling past Adrian, 87-56. The teams meet at the DeVos Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon in D3hoopsNets Game of the Week.

Nazareth is seeded seventh in the eight-team Chase Tournament but the Golden Flyers made the most of their hosting opportunity, upsetting Rochester Tech 87-73. Corey McAdam put on a show with 23 points, 12 assists, six rebounds and five assists for Nazareth. Delaware Valley eclipsed last years win total in surprising fashion, tipping DeSales 72-70. It was the Aggies fourth win under coach Casey Stitzel, one more than all of last year.

In womens action, No. 9 Hope rolled past Calvin 73-49 paced by Jenny Cowens 20 points. The Flying Dutch built a double-digit lead midway through the first half and never looked back. Newly ranked Washington and Jefferson got double-digit points from four starters and 10 assists from the fifth in a 79-68 victory over St. Vincent. The No. 25 Presidents stay a half step in front of No. 16 Thomas More who won at Geneva 77-59. Wednesday night's women's scores.

Kim Vennera set a school record with 43 points for Delaware Valley but No. 18 DeSales prevailed 98-81. No. 21 York (Pa.) extended its school record for consecutive wins to 13 by taking care of St. Marys (Md.) 69-42. And the end of the Coast Guard-Springfield game defies description, but we'll just say it involved a double technical, time being put back on the clock after the game was over and Springfield winning despite shooting 0-for-19 from three-point range.
