In the biggest Division III basketball rivalry of them all, it was Calvin on top for the first time in five meetings, as Hope's Jesse Reimink misfired on a jumper with five seconds left and the Knights held on to win, 66-64. Caleb Veldhouse scored 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting for the Knights, who overcame an 11-turnover deficit by holding Hope to 3-for-24 shooting from three-point range. Despite the miss, Reimink finished with 20 points as well as 13 rebounds.

Wooster got 22 from Ian Franks and 14 from Justin Hallowell as the Scots downed archrival Wittenberg 68-59. Wooster, which is tied with Hiram for first place in the NCAC, did not trail in the final 33 minutes and led by as many as 17.

&&g-boxr&&In a stunning development, all three ranked CCIW teams won on Saturday, as even without All-American Kent Raymond, top-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) won 61-47. Ben Panner led the Thunder with 18 points. No. 11 Augustana had two players with 12 and two players with 10 in an 80-63 home win against North Central (Ill.), while Brent Ruch scored 25 and Chris Childs 22 in No. 20 Elmhurst's 90-72 win at Illinois Wesleyan. The ranked WIAC teams had no trouble with unranked opponents on the road, either, as No. 4 UW-Stevens Point handled UW-Superior 104-60 and No. 7 UW-Whitewater beat UW-Stout 99-71.
No. 8 Capital took over sole possession of first in the OAC, beating crosstown rival Otterbein 79-60 while Wilmington got trounced by John Carroll, 92-66. Ryan Wood led Capital with 32 points in 31 minutes.
Washington and Lee beat Roanoke for just the fourth time in 30 tries, ending the No. 18 Maroons' 13-game win streak with a 68-66 defeat. Joey Verax unloaded 39 points on Anderson as Transylvania knocked off the No. 23 Ravens 80-69.
No. 17 St. Norbert sealed a 107-96 win at Grinnell when David Arseneault fouled out, then was called for a technical, followed by a bench technical. St. John Fisher won the Chase Tournament with a 76-71 victory against cross-street rival Nazareth. Occidental ended a five-game losing streak with a 52-51 surprise win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. But at least that game ended. The Willamette-Lewis & Clark game was suspended at halftime due to a power outage with Lewis & Clark leading 35-32. Electrical power went out during halftime and was not expected to be restored until very late Saturday night.
