Rowe returns to D-III at Endicott

Philip Rowe has returned to Division III coaching for the first time since leaving for Division I New Hampshire in 1999, as he was hired as head men's coach at Endicott. Rowe, who was most recently athletic director at Daniel Webster, coached Keene State from 1996-99, during the school's transition from Division II to Division III, then went 45-125 at New Hampshire.

Rowe, whose most recent coaching position was as an assistant in 2005-06 at George Washington, inherits an Endicott squad that went 10-15 last season. He replaces Chris Millette, who resigned in March after four seasons, having compiled a 56-52 record.

Rowe has a history of transforming basketball programs, as he did at NEC, Plymouth State and Keene State. Rowe helped lead the Pilgrims to three NAIA appearances after taking over a one-win team to start his tenure. At Plymouth State, Rowe turned the Panthers from a last place team into a nationally ranked and co-champion squad in the Little East. He continued his success in the Little East Conference as coach at Keene State, posting back-to-back 20 win seasons with the Owls.

His coaching success was solidified with a 27-3 season and the sixth-overall national ranking at George Washington University as an assistant coach. Rowe developed the Colonials recruiting plan, budget expenditures, travel arrangements and coordinated all aspects of practice, game preparation and scouting. GWU captured the Atlantic-10 Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division I Tournament during Rowe's one season with the Colonials.

Endicott's lone conference honoree from last year, Graham Whitelaw, returns, after averaging more than 15 points a game last season.
