Stockbower passes 1,000 rebounds

A special night for the Swarthmore women also became a special night for one of their biggest stars.

During the Garnet's annual WBCA Pink Zone game to promote breast cancer awareness, junior Kathryn Stockbower recorded the 1,000th rebound of her career as part of a 22-point, 13-rebound performance as the Garnet (11-13, 8-11) defeated visiting Bryn Mawr 73-48 on Wednesday night.

Stockbower becomes just the second player in Swarthmore history to reach 1,000 career points and rebounds, while recording the 63rd double-double of her career. The other player is Heather Kile, who was a first-team D3hoops.com All-American in 2002. Stockbower is the fourth player recorded as having reached the 1,000-rebound milestone this season.

Along with the performance from Stockbower, the story of the game was the hot shooting of the Garnet. Swat finished the game shooting 48 percent while connecting on nine three-pointers. Swat's proficient three-point shooting also helped out a good cause, as Garnet fans pledged money based on the number of three-pointers made by the home team.
