With a showdown against Virginia Wesleyan approaching, the Randolph-Macon men stumbled at Washington and Lee, 78-56. The Generals built a 16-point lead at the half and led by double digits for most of the second half. J.D. Ey scored 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Washington and Lee (12-9, 5-7 ODAC), which never trailed. No. 3 Virginia Wesleyan took care of Roanoke 98-83 as Donald Vaughn scored 28 and D.J. Woodmore added 20.
Spencer Liddic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds as homestanding Muhlenberg knocked off No. 8 Franklin and Marshall 60-58. Georgio Milligan scored a game-high 15 for the Diplomats but shot just 3-for-17 in the process.
No. 12 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps just barely avenged its only loss of the season, edging Whittier 65-64. Tenth-ranked Whitworth held on to edge Pacific Lutheran 82-80. The Lutes had three shots to take the lead in the final minute but missed on all three. Wade Gebbers shot 7-for-11 from downown for the Pirates.
Sixth-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final 10 minutes to defeat Sul Ross State 60-58 on the road. The Cru went 5-for-21 from three-point range but forced 24 Lobos turnovers. The two top defensive teams in the CCIW lived up to their billing, as North Central (Ill.) beat No. 15 Augustana 43-41, improving to 10-0 at home.
No. 14 Wooster defeated Wabash 77-59 for its sixth consecutive win. No. 7 Cabrini moved closer to clinching the top seed in the CSAC tournament by downing Marywood 76-63. No. 2 Hope held off Albion 75-69, as Albion's Lawrence Ridgell scored 14 of his career-high 21 points in the final five minutes.
Jamie Karraker scored MIT's last five points to lift the No. 5 Engineers over Springfield 69-67. Karraker's three pointer with 40 seconds left snapped a 64-64 tie and his free throws with seven seconds left sealed the victory. No. 20 William Paterson scored the final six points of the game to get past Ramapo 58-55. Barrett Meyer, Chris Owens, and Tate Cox combined to convert seven of eight free throws as No. 18 Transylvania beat Rose-Hulman 56-51.
Keene State followed up its upset of Middlebury with a 92-57 home drubbing of Southern Maine. Becker won its 30th consecutive NECC game, rolling past Wheelock 77-49 behind four players in double figures. Lamonte Thomas scored 38 points to lead Johnson and Wales to a 113-61 win against Norwich. He's averaged 31.9 points over his past 15 games to lift the Wildcats from 1-5 to 10-11.
Kevin Vande Streek won his 400th career game as Calvin defeated Kalamazoo 77-65. Tom Snikkers recorded a milestone as well in the win. Earlham snapped a 36-game losing streak and won its first HCAC game in its two seasons in the league with a 57-53 upset of Hanover. Earlham left the NCAC for the HCAC with the goal of winning half of its conference games in every sport and is 1-31 in men's basketball, 1-31 in women's basketball in league play since the switch. Delaware Valley won for the second time in three games after a dreadful start, as Nathan Bollinger scored 29 points in knocking off Eastern 83-71. Eastern falls to 14-7, 7-3 MAC Freedom, while Delaware Valley is just 5-16, 2-8.
Grinnell lost for the second night in a row, as St. Norbert ended the game on a 21-5 run to drop the Pioneers 97-96. Oswego State placed six players in double figures and was 15-for-15 from the foul line as the Lakers remained unbeaten in the SUNYAC with an 84-65 win at Cortland State. Rosemont pulled off another Saturday surprise, defeating Keystone 93-88 to hand the Giants just their second CSAC loss and drop them to 17-3 overall. Freshman Jack Klukas had 28 points, including three three-pointers late in the game, to lead Pomona-Pitzer to a 74-68 win against Redlands. Riggs Yarbro canned a pair of short jumpers in the final 90 seconds to lift Puget Sound to a 66-64 win against Whitman.
