Drew assistant men's basketball coach Paul Seybold, passed away Tuesday night. He was 70.

Seybold joined head coach Daryl Keckler's staff prior to the 2009-10 season and was in the midst of his fourth year with the Rangers. He added nearly four decades of coaching experience to the young staff. Seybold was responsible for the implementation of the team's zone defense as well as advance scouting.

The Bartonsville, Pa., native was a member of the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2010-11. The Rangers clinched the program's first ever Landmark playoff berth and set a new school record with nine consecutive wins.

Joining Keckler's staff prior to the 2009-10 season, Seybold came back to where his coaching career began, in New Jersey. He started as an assistant at Montclair St. before moving to Dickinson where he spent six seasons as an assistant coach to Dave Watkins. While at Dickinson, the Red Devils made two MAC tournament appearances. He took over the program as the interim head coach in the '76-'77 season.

He then moved on to be an assistant coach under Dave Rahn and Bob Lehr at Gettysburg for six seasons. In his first season with the Bullets, they clinched a MAC Southwest Championship. After his stint at Gettysburg, Seybold took a position on the prep level at Stroudsburg Area High School in Pennsylvania for two seasons.

His ongoing relationship with the Gettysburg basketball program over the years led to meeting Keckler, who was an assistant with the Bullets for five seasons.
