Barrett Meyer was honored before Transylvania's game with No. 13 Wooster for scoring 1,000 points in his career. Then he added 15 more in the Pioneers' 68-62 victory over the Scots.
Transylvania led Wooster by as many as 10 points until the Scots pulled even at 62 with under two minutes to play. Meyer hit a three to give the Pioneers the lead and Transylvania shut out Wooster the rest of the way. Full recap
Tomorrow Transylvania will host No. 8 Franklin and Marshall which narrowly avoided its first loss of the season. The Diplomats held off Mount St. Joseph 66-63 despite 31 points from David Mann. The junior forward hit 12 of 15 shots, including seven of eight three pointers, for the Lions.
No. 20 Albertus Magnus picked up its first loss of the season, though it was not a surprise. The Falcons lost 112-63 to its New Haven neighbor, Division I Yale. Capital stayed hot in the OAC as the Crusaders downed visiting Wilmington 70-68. Spencer Niekamp's jumper with three seconds left lifted the Crusaders to a 5-0 conference record.
Marian and Martin Luther both shot 32-for-74 from the field, but the Sabres shot 17 more free throws and that was the difference in Marian's 90-78 double-overtime win over the Knights.
In women's action, No. 1 DePauw trounced No. 20 Babson 59-36 at the Puerto Rico Shootout. The Tigers led 25-12 at the break. On Wednesday DePauw (8-0) will face No. 8 Messiah (9-0).
No. 22 Montclair State improved to 11-0 by beating defending Skyline Conference champion Mount St. Mary 53-37. The Redhawks forced 33 turnovers and had 31 more field goal attempts than the Knights.
