Defending champs set slates

With practice a little less than a month away, we're putting the finishing touches on the 2013-14 Division III basketball schedules.

There's one new thing to keep in mind this year: After years of debate, finally, results against all Division III opponents will count in the primary playoff selection criteria, so long as a team plays 70 percent of its games against in-region opponents. So now, if Wheaton (Ill.) plays Calvin in the CCIW-MIAA Challenge (for example), it will count the same as it does when Wheaton plays Washington U.

That's long overdue, and we don't expect there to be many instances where a school falls below that 70 percent threshold. Hopefully for Calvin, that 70 percent barrier will be reachable.

There are many ways to access the 2013-14 schedules:

If a schedule does not display on a page or is incomplete, that's a sign it isn't completely entered in the PrestoSports database. Schools can use their login to complete that process, or our volunteers will get around to posting it in turn.
