Loras went for a rare sweep of three ranked foes from the same conference when No. 19 Augustana travelled to Dubuque.  The Duhawks had already beaten Wheaton (Ill.) and Illinois Wesleyan.

The Vikings had a 65-63 lead and the ball in the final minute when Loras forced a travelling violation. On the Duhawks next possession, Aaron Schueller fired up a three from the right wing but it rattled out. Tayvian Jackson grabbed the rebound for Augustana and sank two free throws to give the Vikings the breathing room they needed. Loras scored at the buzzer but Augustana scored the victory, 67-65.

Several teams started conference play on Wednesday night.  No. 2 UW-Stevens Point tipped off WIAC play with a 74-55 win at UW-Eau Claire. The Pointers host No. 4 UW-Whitewater next Wednesday night.

Marymount picked off No. 17 Wesley 80-73 in the Saints' CAC opener. Five players scored double-figures for Marymount, which is 6-1 and off to its best start in program history. JC Hoellich scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. No. 12 St. Mary's (Md.) won its conference opener 57-48 at Salisbury.

No. 22 Marietta notched a resounding victory over Otterbein in its OAC opener, 109-72. No. 25 Purchase State improved to 6-0 and 1-0 in the Skyline with a 69-53 win at Mount St. Vincent.

Outside the Top 25, Trinity (Texas) finally got a home game and beat Southwestern 55-47 in both teams SCAC opener. Elizabethtown continued its final season in the Commonwealth Conference with a 92-89 win over visiting Widener. Albright edged Arcadia 85-84 on Sameen Swint's layup with seven seconds left.

Youth was served in the first round of the Wendy's Classic where a young Rochester team knocked off No. 23 Hobart 85-75. Sewanee edged struggling Maryville (Tenn.) 54-52 for the Tigers' first win over the Scots in nearly eight years.

Lexi Rohrbach and Baldwin Wallace are 5-1 after back-to-back impressive wins

More than a week after beating Calvin convincingly, Baldwin Wallace defeated another 2013 NCAA tournament participant. This time the Yellow Jackets knocked off No. 11 Ohio Northern 96-83 in their OAC opener.

Baldwin Wallace led for much of the first half and the first 13 minutes of the second half before Ohio Northern jumped in front 72-69. The Yellow Jackets answered with a 9-2 run keyed by five points from Lexi Rohrbach and four points from Audrey Smolik. Ohio Northern later got within one but the Yellow Jackets scored seven straight to pull away for good.

Six Baldwin Wallace players reached double figures, led by Rohrbach who had a career-high 24. Cenzie Yoder scored 23 points for the Polar Bears.

No. 9 UW-Whitewater nearly dropped its second straight game to a CCIW foe, but the Warhawks erased a 20-point deficit to beat Elmhurst, 85-71. Rutgers-Newark pushed No. 3 Montclair State to the edge before the Red Hawks escaped 70-68 on a Janitza Aquino three-pointer in the final minute.

No. 17 FDU-Florham opened Freedom Conference play by thumping DeSales 84-49. No. 10 St. Thomas defeated Augsburg 56-40 in their MIAC opener.

Outside the Top 25, Alverno has had a week to remember. On Saturday the Inferno ended Wisconsin Lutheran's 28-game conference win streak. They followed that up with a 95-91 triple-overtime victory at Concordia-Chicago. Jamie Hoernke had 26 points and 14 rebounds for Alverno. April Boska and Jessica Genke combined for 57 points and 24 rebounds for the Cougars.
