Meredith Mesaris scored 15 points and Sarah Payonk added 10 points and 10 rebounds as No. 6 Scranton defeated No. 4 Tufts 52-42 in women's action on Sunday.
Kelsey Morehead converted a three-point play to give the Jumbos a 42-40 lead with five and a half minutes left in the game, but Scranton scored the final 12 points of the game, 10 of them from the foul line.
Cabrini nearly knocked off its second Top 10 team in as many games, before No. 2 Thomas More held off the Cavaliers 56-55. Cabrini opened the second half on a 20-4 run to get back in the game after it trailed 33-21 going into the locker room. Megan Decker gave Cabrini a 55-54 lead with a pair of free throws with 1:34 left but did not score again and Sydney Moss hit a layup with 27 seconds left to give Thomas More the victory. Moss finished with 18.
Illinois Wesleyan used its pressing defense to erase an eight-point deficit against No. 21 Salisbury and force overtime in the nightcap of Montclair State's tournament. But the Sea Gulls regained their footing and pulled out the 57-51 victory. Salisbury plays No. 7 Montclair State on Monday in a matchup of undefeated nationally ranked teams.
