There was no place like home on Friday night, especially in the UAA, where NYU swept Wash U and the Emory men snapped Case's winning streak.

The NYU women won the battle of unbeatens, as the No. 7 Violets defeated the No. 3 Bears 64-58. Washington U. fought back from an 11-point deficit and pulled within three, 56-53, with 2:37 remaining. However, Melissa Peng followed with a long jumper and added three free throws down the stretch as the Violets held on for the win.64-58

"Wash U. is a phenomenal team, and we're not going to beat them by 30 points," said NYU coach Lauren-Hall Gregory. "We're going to go on our runs and they're going to go on their runs. It's just that we had to go on a little bit of a longer run at the end of the game to come out on top."

The NYU men practically did so, though. They rolled over No. 4 Wash U by 24 points, 91-67. The Violet men had 10 3-pointers and Hakeem Harris had 24 points in the win.

No. 12 Emory bounced back from last weekend's 0-2 road trip, snapping No. 25 Case Western Reserve's six-game win streak by the score of 78-65. Alex Foster led the Eagles once again with 24 points. And No. 21 Chicago lost on the road in Boston, as Brandeis edged the Maroons 59-58.

With Brandeis down by three, 58-55, and the shot clock off, Colby Smith had an assist on rookie Jordan Cooper's bucket with 17.5 seconds left that got the Judges within one. After Brandeis sent Chicago to the line for a one-and-one with 14.6 seconds on the clock, Smith grabbed the miss. He drove down the middle of the court and drew a foul of his own with 6.6 seconds remaining.

Smith calmly sank both free throws to put the Judges ahead, 59-58, for the first time since late in the first half. The Maroons were able to get the ball into leading scorer Jordan Smith's hands. Jordan Smith dribbled the length of the court down the left sideline before making a move to the bucket. Colby Smith came out of nowhere and blocked Jordan Smith with his left hand, and the ball settled in the Judges' hands to close out the upset.

Granville Gittens had a game-high 18 points and Chimaechi Ekekeugbor added 17 as Baruch defeated Hunter 81-43 to remain unbeaten in the CUNYAC.

In other women's action, Lauren Trent scored a career-high 30 points to lead No. 20 Maryville to its 13th consecutive victory, defeating Meredith 77-50 in a battle of USA South divisional leaders. KC McConnell shot 10-for-15 from the floor en route to 28 points to lead No. 18 Whitworth to an 83-77 home win vs. No. 21 Puget Sound. Jessica Kramer shot 9-for-16 en route to 20 points, adding eight rebounds and five assists.

Lisa Murphy scored a season's high 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to pace visiting Carnegie Mellon to a 68-57 victory over Rochester at the Louis Alexander Palestra. CMU improved to 10-4, 2-2 in the UAA.
