Head coach: Dick Reynolds, Otterbein
The game features a pair of outstanding former coaches who have both been recipients of the NABC Division III Distinguished Service Award. Former Otterbein University coach Dick Reynolds will coach the West team and former Colby College coach Dick Whitmore will guide the East team.
Reynolds retired from Otterbein following the 2012 season as the all-time wins leader in the history of the Ohio Athletic Conference with 653. A nine-time OAC coach of the year, Reynolds became the first OAC coach to take his team to league titles over four different decades. His squads earned six outright conference championships and shared it another five times with eight conference tournament titles. The Cardinals advanced to the NCAA Division III championship tournament 13 times under Reynolds, winning the NCAA championship in 2002 and reaching the Final Four in 1981 and 1991. Selected as the NCAA Division III coach of the year by the NABC in 2002, Reynolds was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame and the Otterbein University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
One of the all-time leaders in NCAA Division III career victories and one of the top 50 winning coaches in all divisions at the time of his retirement, Whitmore spent 40 years as head coach of the Colby College men’s basketball team. Whitmore finished his career at Colby with a 637-341 record after the 2010-11 season. He was the interim head coach at Thomas College for the final four games in 2013-14, raising his record to 639-343. Whitmore was seventh all-time in Division III in career victories after leaving Colby and ranked eighth heading into this year. With the success, honors were not far behind. Whitmore was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and was in the inaugural class of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
