Wednesday men: Davidson 2K, No. 2 Platteville L

Jack Davidson reached the 2,000-point plateau, UW-Oshkosh handed UW-Platteville its first loss of the season, Wheaton picked up another loss and more happened from Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, in Division III men's basketball.

Jack Davidson scored a game-high 23 points, including the 2,000th of his career, as Wabash rolled over archrival DePauw 96-70. Davidson, who passed Wabash legend Pete Metzelaars on Saturday to get to 1,981 for his career, got to the milestone with a 3-pointer with 12:26 to play. He has led the Little Giants (12-3, 7-1 North Coast Athletic Conference) in 12 of the team's 15 games this season and is averaging 23.8 points per game.

Levi Borchert scored a game-high 19 points and Quinn Steckbauer added 17 to lead five UW-Oshkosh players in double figures as the No. 5 Titans won at No. 2 UW-Platteville 83-67. It's the first loss for the Pioneers this season after 16 wins. Borchert scored 17 of his 19 in the second half as the Titans pulled away. Oshkosh turned the ball over just twice in the second half. 

Despite making just one of its last nine field goals, Illinois Wesleyan had more than enough offense -- and enough defense -- to hold off North Park as the No. 3 Titans defeated the Vikings 63-58 on the road Wednesday night. Cory Noe scored a team-high 14, including 5-for-5 from the foul line, and Cody Mitchell, Peter Lambesis and Matthew Leyritz added 10 apiece in the win. Gabe Johnson had 15 for North Park (7-7, 3-4 CCIW), including 4-for-4 from the foul line, but the rest of the team shto a combined 4-for-9 on free throws. Leyritz added a game-high 10 rebounds and four blocked shots as IWU improved to 13-2, 6-1.

Millikin handed Wheaton its third loss in the past six games, as the Big Blue rolled over the No. 14 Thunder, 76-51. Millikin (10-7, 5-3 CCIW) held Wheaton to 5-for-22 from 3-point range in the win. Calvin Fisher scored 21 points and added eight rebounds for Millikin, leading four players in double figures. It's the first win for Millikin against Wheaton since Jan. 27, 2018, a streak of eight games.

No. 19 WPI remained unbeaten in NEWMAC play, handing Clark its second defeat on the season by a 74-66 score. Leading by three at the half, WPI used a 15-4 run, backed by nine points from John Lowther to take control of the game. Clark, which came into the game as the top-ranked offense in the NEWMAC, made some noise in the final two minutes of play, but it was a wire-to-wire win for WPI for the sixth time this season. Clark, which won its first 12 games this season, fell to 14-2, 2-2 in the NEWMAC.

Lukas Isaly was just 1-for-5 from beyond the arc but made up for it by going 6-for-8 from inside the arc and 8-for-10 from the line as Marietta remained perfect in the Ohio Athletic Conference, defeating Capital 81-69. Jason Ellis added 14 and Jac Alexander contributed 11 off the bend as the Pioneers improved to 13-2, 8-0 in the league. Tyler Schreck scored 13 for the Comets (8-7, 3-5).

No. 20 Williams got some revenge on its archrival as the Ephs defeated Amherst 60-54. Williams is 13-1, its only loss coming to Amherst earlier this season. This game is the one which counts solely for the teams' Little Three rivalry and not in the conference standings. Nate Karren led Williams with 17 points and seven rebounds and Amherst (10-5) shot just 36% from the floor at home. 

DeSales shot 73% in the second half and pulled away from Delaware Valley en route to a 90-66 win. DeSales improved to 15-1 for the first time in the history of the program, and is 8-0 in MAC Freedom play. Seven players scored eight or more points for the Bulldogs, helping send the Aggies to an 8-7, 4-4 mark. 

Rowan had six players hit double digits and the team shot over 51% in the second half to help best The College of New Jersey, 101-79 at Esbjornson Gymnasium in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup. The Profs (14-3, 7-3 NJAC) opened up a one-point halftime lead with a big second half, including a 21-8 run to close out the contest. Marcellus Ross and Andrew Seager each netted 20 as Rowan swept the season series with its archrival (6-7, 3-7).
