The Division III women's basketball Final Fours will be held in three locations during the next cycle, in 2027 and 2028. The announcement includes formal recognition of the NCAA hosting a joint championship among all three divisions for women's basketball in Indianapolis in 2028.
It will be the third joint championship for NCAA Division III women's basketball, following similar events in Indianapolis in 2016 and Dallas in 2023.
The 2027 national semifinals will be held in its largest building yet, the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The building will host the national semifinals and the championship game, in a location that is right in the middle of a hotbed of women's college basketball. The PowerHouse seats 9,000 for basketball, and returns Division III championships to Cedar Rapids, which has previously hosted Division III wrestling and Division III baseball.
“We are excited to hear the 2027 NCAA D-III Women’s Basketball Championships will be played at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse here in Cedar Rapids,” Cedar Rapids Director of Sports Tourism, Jay Fanta, said in a news release from the American Rivers Conference. “We have a great history of hosting NCAA championships and look forward to working with the NCAA and the American Rivers Conference on hosting a great event for the student-athletes and fans in 2027.”
In 2028, the national semifinals will return to the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. The Cregger Center has hosted the women's Final Four before, in 2019, and had another hosting opportunity wiped out during the COVID pandemic. This season's Final Four, in March 2025, will also be held at the Cregger Center.
