Wesleyan took down No. 1 Trinity (Conn.) and ended the Bantams’ long winning streak in front of a capacity home crowd, while No. 15 Calvin defeated Hope in the latest installment of The Rivalry. Elsewhere, the top two teams in the WIAC fell, and Ohio Northern got the upset win it just missed a month ago in Saturday's Division III men's basketball action.

Wesleyan held No. 1 Trinity without a field goal for the final 7:05, and the Cardinals got a measure of revenge, beating the Bantams, 64-62, in front of a capacity crowd at Silloway Gymnasium.

The Cardinals got 52 points from three players, led by Sam Pohlman (22 points) and Zach Wolinski (16 points) who had the go-ahead three with 3:20 left. Trinity had two chances to tie or take the lead in the final minute but came up empty.

Wesleyan’s win vaults the Cardinals (15-4, 5-0 NESCAC) into a first-place tie in the NESCAC with No. 10 Tufts (76-73 winners over Conn College). Wesleyan started last season 26-0 before losing to Trinity in the NESCAC title game and then again in the national semifinal. The loss snaps Trinity’s 32-game winning streak that began after a home loss to Wesleyan in NESCAC play last season.

Trinity's loss also leaves No. 8 Montclair State as the final undefeated team in Division III men's basketball. The Red Hawks stayed perfect by dismantling Rutgers-Newark, 85-61.

No. 15 Calvin overpowered Hope in the 217th meeting between the rivals, as the Knights defeated the Flying Dutch, 80-65, in front of a sold-out DeVos Fieldhouse. Calvin outscored Hope 42-26 in the paint and tallied 21 second-chance points off 11 offensive rebounds. Jalen Overway posted 21 points and 16 rebounds for the Knights (13-4, 5-1 MIAA) whose entire starting lineup scored double digits.

Hope maintains a 111-106 all-time lead in The Rivalry, but Calvin has won four straight.

It was tough night at the top of the WIAC standings, as No. 16 UW-Oshkosh, No. 20 UW-Platteville, and No. 23 UW-Stevens Point all lost.

UW-Stout closed the game on a 5-0 spurt and picked off UW-Oshkosh, 78-77. After the Titans took a 77-73 lead in the final minute, Collin Vick cut the deficit in half with a layup and Domanyck Schwarzenberger made three free throws, the last two with four seconds left to life the Blue Devils to victory.

Sam Grieger scored 29 points, including two late free throws, and UW-La Crosse held off UW-Stevens Point, 80-77. Grieger went 11 for 12 from the foul line and Dustin Derousseau went 7 for 10 from the line on his way to 18 points in 40 minutes. Josiah Butler netted 34 points in 40 minutes for the Pointers.

UW-River Falcons needed no such heroics since the Falcons handled UW-Platteville at home, 68-50. Jack Leifker led four Falcons in double figures with 21 points on 9-for-17 shooting. River Falls (7-11, 2-5 WIAC) also scored 46 points in the paint.

No. 4 Mount Union concluded a rough week with a 64-50 loss at Ohio Northern. After narrowly missing an upset win in Alliance, ONU left no doubt in the rematch. The Polar Bears held the Purple Raiders to 19 points in the first half and led nearly the entire game. Aiden Harris paced Ohio Northern (11-3, 6-3 OAC) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Mount Union (16-2, 7-2) slipped a half-game behind No. 24 Otterbein, which was idle on Saturday.

Noah Cleveland scored 17 points and blocked a would-be game-tying shot in the final minute, and No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan held off Carroll, 60-58. Mason Funk also tallied 17 points for the Titans (15-3, 7-2 CCIW), which has won nine straight.

No. 19 Hood rode Jevon Yarborough's 42 points to a victory at home over Eastern, 91-82. Yorborough also racked up 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Blazers (15-2, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth), who made 21 of their 23 free throw attempts. Hood also got some help when Albright upset No. 25 York (Pa.), 87-81. Lions guards Chase McWhite and Qadir Mitchell combined for 40 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists for Albright (8-9, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth)

Tim Reidy scored 25 points, including six in the final minute and WPI defended its perch atop the NEWMAC by beating Babson, 78-72. The Engineers (15-3, 8-1 NEWMAC) have a two-game lead on the Beavers and Clark (90-67 victors over MIT).
