As with our men's projections, our women's projections came down to one last pick, where the committee zigged, and we zagged.

So when we take Loras at the end, but the committee takes Ohio Wesleyan, that's par for the course, and a good indicator of how difficult it is. Projecting 20 out of 21 correctly is a major victory for the whole process -- it means to us that the women's committee is on a track where the picks are understandable and that means that coaches and fans can better understand a team's chances to make the field.
NYU is not able to host this weekend because in even numbered years, the men's teams have priority for the first weekend, and the NYU men were selected to host. So that pod is at DeSales, where we'll see two teams from the NCAA's Top 16 release of last week in the same pod. Millsaps got flown out to that pod, so that means that Hardin-Simmons gets to host a pod in Texas, rather than Mary Hardin-Baylor, who would have hosted because of geography.
Here's who was left at the table in each region when the field ran out of at-large bids. It seems likely that Ohio Wesleyan from Region 7 may have been the last one in, so Denison likely never came to the table at all.
