Salmon, Wildcat's Bench Dispatch of Choctaws, 84-71

PINEVILLE, LA - The Mississippi College men's basketball team had their two-game winning streak snapped with an 84-71 loss to Louisiana College on Monday night in H.O. West Fieldhouse.

The Wildcats opened the game with a 19-7 run over the first five minutes of the game.  The Choctaws answered with an 18-4 run that gave MC a 25-23 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining.

LC jumped back ahead and took a 47-37 lead into the break before opening the second half with a 12-0 run.  The Choctaws stormed back with 12 points of their own, but LC would stretch the lead out for the victory.

The Choctaws were led by junior forward Chad Jones with a career-high 25 points on 10-14 shooting from the floor.  Jones tallied a double-double with 12 rebounds.  Junior guard Marlon Ester was the only other Choctaw in double-figures with 17 points.

MC shot 41.4% (24-58) from the floor, but were struggling from the free throw line, going only 16-35 (38.9%).  The Wildcats shot 49.2% (31-63) and went 9-25 (36.0%) from the three-point line.

The Wildcats were led by junior Korey Salmon with 27 points on 9-15 shooting.  Salmon also tallied a double-double with 14 rebounds.  Senior Chukwuma Ekeh scored 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Longview, TX to face LeTourneau at 7:30 p.m.
