COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 18) -- Colorado College senior Nick Rose scored 37 points in 37 minutes and a 19-5 run in the second half proved just enough to outlast Hendrix College, 84-80, on Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.

Hendrix (9-15, 4-11 SCAC) controlled the tempo out of the gate and a 3-point play the hard way by senior James Ewing gave the Warriors a 17-9 lead with 14:21 to go in the first half.

Colorado used a 14-4 run over a six minute stretch to grab a 34-32 advantage with 2:13 left before the break. Hendrix responded with five unanswered points, but Rose scored the final layup of the half to give Hendrix just a 37-36 lead. Hendrix outscored Colorado in the first half 20-12 in the paint and 18-0 off the bench.

The Warriors (9-15, 4-11 SCAC) stretched the gap to seven points early in the second half, until first year Ben Foley sparked the game-changing 19-5 run on an 3-point play with 16:00 on the clock.

Foley and Rose both scored seven points during the spree. Rose ended the stretch with a 3-pointer to give Colorado 13-11, 9-6 SCAC) a 60-51 advantage with 8:54 remaining.

Hendrix stayed within striking distance and did not let its deficit slip past nine points the rest of the way. Sophomore Jaren Riley knocked down two jumpers in the last minute to bring the Warriors within two points, 82-80, with just 18 seconds left.

Hendrix was forced to foul to stop the clock and Colorado first year Ryan Milne drained both shots in the double-bonus to reach the final mark with 16 seconds to go.

Rose was 14-of-21 from the field, 3-of-4 from distance and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Foley and senior Brady Ohlsen finished with 14 points apiece, while Milne tallied nine points and three assists. Ohlsen had five assists and 10 rebounds.

Junior Nick Heathscott led Hendrix with 21 points and junior Chris Goodman added 16 points to the mix on 4-of-7 shooting from long range. First year Colton Primm owned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Riley collected 11 points.

Hendrix will now travel to Austin College (11-12, 7-8 SCAC) on Sunday, Feb. 20 in what is a must win situation for the Warriors.

A win on Sunday and a loss from Millsaps (10-14, 4-11 SCAC) at Colorado would give Hendrix the No. 4 west seed in next weekend's SCAC Tournament, hosted by Millsaps.

Millsaps owns the tie-breaker over Hendrix, so a loss at Austin on Sunday would put Hendrix out of tournament contention.
