Rochester Ties Scoring Mark in Beating Wells

ROCHESTER, NY – Five players scored in double figures and Rochester tied a tournament record for points in a game with a 106-58 victory over Wells College (0-4) int he Holiday Inn Airport Thanksgiving Invitational at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

John DiBartolomeo scored 20 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had seven assists for UR (3-1). Nate Vernon scored 16 points. Rob Reid had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus Williams scored 14 points, and Kevin Sheehy scored 11 points, including making three three-point field goals.

Kevin Marseille scored 13 points to lead Wells. Mike DiCampli scored nine points. Mabior Mayen had eight points.

UR shot 62% from the field in the first half (18-29), including 60% outside the arc (6-10). The Yellowjackets shot 66% in the second half (23-35) and finished at 64% for the game. Six different players made three-pointers.

Wells shot 42% from the floor in the first 20 minutes. Rochester led, 53-28, at halftime.

Rochester tied the record of 106 points in a tournament game, set by Ohio Wesleyan in 1985-86 against Keuka College. The Yellowjackets last scored 100 points in this tournament in 1990-91 with a 104-34 victory over Haverford College.

UR will play Allegheny College in Sunday's championship game at 3 pm. Allegheny (2-3) defeated Elmira, 65-48. James Ness led the Gators with 15 points. Matt Newell scored 18 points for Elmira. The Soaring Eagles (0-4) will play Wells for third place at 1 pm.
