BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille men's basketball team closed out reguar season play with a (89-61) pasting of AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg on "Senior Day" in the Sullivan Center.  A balanced Medaille attack would prove to be too much for the visiting Bobcats as the Mavs won for the fourth time in five games.

The game got off to a shaky start for both teams as they traded missed shots and turnovers for the first three minutes.  The Mavs were able to overcome some early miscues and then used stifling defense the rest of the way to limit the Bobcats.  In the first half Pitt-Greensburg managed to connect on just (28.2%) of their field goal attempts while Medaille knocked down (48.5%) of their shots.  That story would play out the entire game as Medaille ended the day at (46.4%) while holding the Bobcats to (30.1%).

For the 12th time in the past 13 games the Mavs were led on the scoresheet by sophomore Jammal Coleman who poured in (17) points, including a (3 for 3) effort from beyond the arc.  He also pulled down (6) boards, four of which came off the offensive glass.  Fellow sophomore Alex Baron followed closely behind with (16) points on (6 of 9) shooting while also grabbing (6) boards.

The Mavs bench netted nearly half of the teams points in the win.  Rookie Erik Simmons came off the bench to tally a career high (13) points on (6 of 9) shooting, while freshman Ryan Grandits had a perfect shooting day (3 for 3) from the floor and (5 for 5) from the charity stripe en route to a career high for him as well with (11) points.  The Medaille reserves outscored their Greensburg counterparts (43-32).

Senior Josh Laureano only managed to make one bucket but he contributed in a big way all over the floor by dishing out a game high (7) assists, matching a game high with (8) rebounds and blocking a game best (2) shots.

The Mavs owned the paint in the win, outscoring the Bobcats (38-18) in the lane.  They also turned (19) Greensburg turnovers into (27) points on the other end of the floor.  The Mavs stretched their lead to as many as (32) in the win.

The win improves the Mavs record to (16-9) overall and they finish AMCC regular season play at (13-5).  They will be the #4 seed in the AMCC Tournament and will host 5th seeded Mt. Aloysius College on Tuesday (2/19) at 7:00pm in the Sullivan Center in the first round of the conference playoffs.
