YORK, Pa. – Wesley College's David Langan has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season, and the fourth time in his career, that Langan has earned CAC weekly honors.
A senior center from Sayreville, N.J., Langan had a historic week, becoming the 12th Wolverine in school-history to record 1,000 career points while also setting the school-record for rebounds. Langan averaged 24.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while shooting 62.5% from the floor and 86.4% from the line in a pair of victories, helping 10th-ranked Wesley lock up the top seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament.
To open the week, Langan posted a double-double with 16 points, 19 rebounds and a career-high five blocks in a victory at Salisbury. Three days later, Langan tallied a career-high 33 points, including 15-of-18 shooting from the charity stripe, while pulling down 11 rebounds and a career-high four assists in a road win over No. 13 Mary Washington. The victory against the Eagles gave Wesley a program-record 20 wins this season.
Langan and the Wolverines (20-2, 12-2 CAC) close out the regular season with a pair of home games next week, starting with Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, February 19 at 8 pm. Three days later, Wesley hosts St. Mary's on February 22 at 3 pm. Prior to the game against the Seahawks, the Wolverines will honor its three seniors, Brandin Youngblood, David Langan and Eric Selby, in a pregame ceremony.
