LAS VEGAS – The University of Redlands men's basketball team (10-2) defeated SUNY New Paltz 78-66 for their third win in as many games at the D3hoops.com Classic at South Point Arena.
After falling into a four point hole in the first two minutes, Chozen Amadi made three consecutive threes to put the Bulldogs up five.
Redlands trailed as late as the 7:03 mark but the Bulldogs ended the half on an 18-10 run and held their largest lead of the half as time expired thanks to a Dayvon Gates three off a Jhace Boston assist.
Donovan Ware came out of the break and made a pair of threes in the first three plus minutes as he established the first double-digit lead of the game, 49-38, with 16:46 on the clock.
The Hawks drew back within single digits, 52-44, a minute later before Kendrick Currey assisted Jake Hlywiak nine seconds later as the Bulldogs held onto the 10 plus point lead the remainder of the game.
They held their largest lead of the game at the 7:32 mark when Omari Ferguson took advantage of a Hawk turnover that made it a 70-51 lead.
Boston had an all-around night with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, four blocks, and two steals.
Much like last night's game, the Bulldogs dominated New Paltz from behind the arc and at the line where they were plus a combined 40 points thanks to 13 made threes against two conceded.
Redlands returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m. when they host the University of La Verne inside Currier Gym.
