EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (4-2, 0-1 NJAC) was defeated, 85-68, by No. 20 The College of New Jersey (5-1, 1-0 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Nov. 25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Pioneers fell behind by nine (18-9) with 13:21 remaining in the opening half before scoring eight unanswered points to make it a one-point game (18-17).
- TCNJ countered with a 15-1 run and went on to take a double-digit lead (41-29) into the half.
- The Lions built their advantage to 21 (58-37) with 15:27 left to play before a 7-0 WP run trimmed the deficit to 14 (58-44).
- WP outscored TCNJ, 14-6, over the final 6:32 of action, but the Lions held on for the 85-68 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Sophomore Jack Gobel paced the Pioneers with a team-high 16 points.
- Freshman Ty'Shawn Pearson finished with a season-best 11 points on 5-of-9 (.556) shooting.
- Sophomore Delani Hyde went 5-of-8 (.625) from the field for a 10-point performance to pair with five rebounds.
- Junior Josiah Carey and freshman Charles Graves chipped in with seven points apiece.
- Senior Ethan Paul had four points and a team-high seven boards.

- William Paterson will square off against Montclair State Wednesday, Dec. 3, in a conference road game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
