LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's basketball team played in its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday night and earned a 79-56 win over Bridgewater.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Generals (17-7, 9-6 ODAC) started the game on the right foot, outscoring the Eagles (7-17, 3-12 ODAC) 12-2 across the first four minutes of play. After the first media timeout, Bridgewater settled and responded with a 13-2 run to flip the game in its favor by a point.
• With 10:40 left in the first half, sophomore Ari Hobson got a 17-5 run going with a layup, while senior A.J. Thomas carried the run with a team-high 10 points on three triples, including a four-point play at 7:15.
• Bridgewater closed the halftime gap to nine points, before the Generals got it back up to 17 points (54-37) by the 13:22 mark of the second.
• After a pair of Maleek Richardson free throws, W&L outscored the Eagles 17-2 over the next 7:08 to claim a 30-point advantage with under six minutes left. Thomas had the hot hand once more, nailing a pair of threes and scoring eight points in that time.

TOP PERFORMERS:

• Thomas led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting (5-9 3pt FG), while first-year Addison Newkirk notched a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double. Newkirk also had four assists, one behind senior Colin Ryan for the team lead.
• Sophomore Connor Amorosi matched Newkirk's 10 points, and sophomore Bryce Breeden tallied eight points, eight rebounds, one block and one steal.
• Mason Ramey was the Eagles' top scorer at 12 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the field. Carter Palmer followed with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals.

ODAC UPDATE:

• After Wednesday's results, the Generals are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the ODAC standings with Hampden-Sydney and Lynchburg. To claim the No. 4 seed and a home ODAC quarterfinal game, W&L must win on Saturday at HSC and get a Lynchburg loss against Virginia Wesleyan.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• With his five assists, Ryan moved past Andrew Franz '16 (327) for the fourth-most assists in program history. Ryan now has 331 dimes in his career and is looking up at Mike Holton's '91 371 helpers for third place.

TEAM STATS:

• The Generals sank 46.4 percent (26-56) of their shots in the game, including an even 40 percent (10-25) from long range. The Eagles were limited to 32.2 percent (19-59) shooting overall and 20 percent (4-20) from deep.
• W&L also dominated the glass, grabbing 43 total rebounds (15 offensive) to Bridgewater's 29 (11 offensive).
• The Blue and White held positive scoring advantages in points off turnovers (16-13), second-chance points (20-13), points in the paint (28-24) and fastbreak points (12-5).

The Generals will wrap up the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday when they travel to Hampden-Sydney for a 2:00 p.m. opening tip-off.
